Mental Health Awareness Month-FREE Movie Night

May 21 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

55 Steps

The Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness is having a movie night in support of Mental Health Awareness.

The film is based on the inspiring true story of a woman named Eleanor Riese. Eleanor was a patient committed to a locked mental health facility in San Francisco who brought forward a class action lawsuit to give competent mental health patients the right to have a say in their medication while they are in the hospital. Her suit, filed in 1987, changed the rights of patients receiving forced medications in psychiatric hospitals to this day.

The location of the film will be at the Courthouse Sunken Garden. Film begins at 8pm

(Don’t forget to wear LIME GREEN to support Mental Health Month)
